Slice of pie: #1

Slices of pie: #1

(I’m going to see if I know what I’m doing with this queue thing to get this to post while I’m out and about today since I said Sunday mornings are where it’s at with this project)

The first slice of pie this year goes to an individual who I really don’t get to see as often as I’d like but we’re still good friends and he knows how much I value him being in my life. He’s fiercely protective, incredibly animated, and has some awkward jokes that we all tend to chuckle along too. He was around for my first year on MCIA and he was a source of protection and brotherly love that I really needed being away from home.

The first slice of pie goes to WESLEY CHRISTENSON!

Thanks for always being a goofball Wes but also for always being easy to be around and easy to be myself around. I consider it an honor being your friend and I hope that never changes, even if you end up staying in Japan like we all think you will.

I found this joke for you from 'texts from dog' and I hope it makes you smile today:

The original concept:

 the pie.

Let me explain the pie.

Recently I had been plagued by one life catastrophe after another and finally I decided to let people know what was up. Well when I did I received a lot of support and that support has been unbelievably helpful to me.

That's not the pie.
Yet.

When the new year was approaching I couldn't help but think about how shitty 2011 had been for me, and how much I owed others for helping me get through it. I want to say thank you to everyone whose been here by me, but I don't really have the means to give the thank you they deserve just yet. So I decided to train up for it, and work to give some good karma back to the world. That's where the pie comes into play.

Imagine all the good things people have done for you, both little and big. Imagine all the times that you have told someone "I don't know what I would have done without you." Imagine all the helping hands, and supportive hugs you've ever received. Now take all those positive, heart warming, life changing instances and think of them as a lovely, fresh baked, homemade pie of your choice. Whatever your favorite flavor is. The smell alone makes you happy right?

And that's where my project begins. To cut up a slice of pie for one random person per week with the hopes that, even if they're having the best day in the world, I can bring them a slice of joy.

Once a week, maybe twice if I feel so moved, I'll be writing something nice about one random person on my friends list. I'll be recording it here as well as on Facebook so that I have a chronological and easily accessed copy of what I write.
Happy 2012 everyone. =)

The refurbishment:

So I have a TON of drafts that I was supposed to post up as each week went by but I was terribly distracted by the boyfriend coming to visit, and then next thing I know I’ve landed a new job and BAM life swept me up into a current I was more than glad to swim along with.

This project fell by the wayside though and I never forgave myself for that. I think I want to make it bigger though. I’m going to be including tumblr followers/friends in this project now because as a blogging community I feel that there are quite a few posters whom I would have wonderful things to say about. Also, I want to give back to a community that, whether in anonymity or lighthearted camaraderie has supported me.

Posts will go up on SUNDAY MORNINGS. I wasn’t setting deadlines for myself before and look what happened. So every Sunday morning this year, I am going to wake up and post a slice or two of pie. =) I’d like to do at least one video slice a month too so hopefully I can keep that goal going.

2013 is going to be a year of growth, I can feel it. 2012 set in place so many wonderful foundations for me to build upon and I fully intend to capitalize on that. Have a great year everyone!

the second slice.

So there's this guy I know who's really got character, and I don't mean just one, he's got a whole bunch, but I guess that comes from being an actor. I've been blessed with opportunities to see him at work and he is quite a sight to see, and yes I mean that in a good way. He does his best to get himself into each characters head and figure out how that person would really exist. What I admire though, is that he seeks to maintain his own sense of self and character and values in the roles that he takes.

Something else about him, he's an awesome dancer and teammate from my dancing days. He helped inspire a lot of us to try new styles that some of us had never heard of before. He then encouraged those of us with enough curiosity to continue training in those styles. I remember his pieces were always my favorites to learn, and even if I didn't make it into them I still kept practicing them because I enjoyed them. As a teammate he always did his best to make sure that the team upheld strong morals, and that each teammate felt valued. He even went so far as to introduce the team to his church in order to open up the possibilities of faith to us, whether or not we had explored faith before.

He's getting married soon, and I couldn't be happier or more excited for him. He and his fiancee make an awesome pair and I can't even imagine how great their future together is going to be. So yeah, my friend Julian gets this slice of pie!! Have a great day Julian!! See you soon!

the first slice.

So let me tell you about my friend Tobi. He's tall, sweet, kind and an amazing dancer. I remember rooting for Tobi with my heart when watching him audition, and I remember noticing him (even though I wouldn't meet him in person for some time to come) at an APO dance comp performance. I'm so glad Tobi ended up at UCI and that we met through the dance community. Tobi's the kind of guy who loves to sit around and chit chat about all the silly things in this world with all sorts of fun people. We've had quite a few of these chats, and everytime it was such a pleasure learning more about him and feeling like I could share my stories with someone sweet and accepting like Tobi. Tobi's also really giving. This guy, I think he almost gives too much of himself away without asking for anything in return. I've only known Tobi a short while, but honestly I think he's got a lot going for him. I really hope that med school doesn't change him, unless it's for the better and that he knows how awesome of a person I think he is. Also, Tobi has cool hair. =)
